Fostering independence and individuality in singing lead a student to find their own unique voice, style, and personality on stage. I believe in giving singers the tools they will need to succeed in the real world. In addition to a foundation of healthy vocal technique, I encourage the students to spent time developing their musicianship skills, such as ear-training and sight reading.

Fluency in the language of music sets the stage for greater communication with the audience!

Private and semi-private singing lessons are available for ages 8 & up, and the content of these lessons will address the specific needs of each student. Students ages 8-14 will be taught to sing in a technique that is appropriate and safe for their young instrument. Musicianship, ear-training, solfège and music fundamentals can also be learned while their voice is still developing and I believe that the foundation laid during these early years can greatly support the musical and technical work that I hope they will continue to do as they get older. A combination singing/piano lesson for children is highly recommended!

For students ages 15 and up, I will work on building a healthy and dependable vocal technique though warm-ups, exercises and study of a variety of repertoire. Proper breath support for singing, correct body alignment, diction and vowel formation are all topics that will be covered.

The more technically proficient we become, the more flexible and expressive we are as singing artists!

Different styles of music may be explored based on the students’ interest, including classical, opera, musical theater and folk music. Other areas covered, include dealing with performance anxiety (stage fright), audition preparation and performance etiquette.
